The late Jim Barry was a pioneer of the Australian wine industry and the Clare Valley in South Australia where he was the first qualified winemaker. With his wife, Nancy, he built a successful wine business which has produced trophy-winning wines since its establishment in 1959.  Today, the company is headed by Jim’s son Peter, who took over from his father as Managing Director in 1985.

Jim Barry's philosophy to winemaking is very simple: own the vineyards to develop the best fruit flavours possible and retain these flavours during winemaking. All fruit is sourced from the family owned vineyards, ensuring the control over every stage of production from vine to wine.
