Description

Our 1998 planting of Sangiovese has improved dramatically over the years and produces fruit with deep savoury flavours for which this variety is well known.
The grapes were picked early, on the 28th of March, due to the slightly warmer season. The naturally low cropping levels resulted in fruit with a wonderful array of savoury flavours.
Most of the Sangiovese was static fermented with daily pumpovers and a small parcel was also open fermented and hand plunged. Both techniques gave excellent depth and colour to the wine. After aging in new and used French and European oak for 18 months a seriously flavoured wine was bottled.
Our 2006 Sangiovese is a spicy blend of capers, olives and black cherries with a velvety raspberry finish on the palate that is further complexed by nutty oak flavours.
